Hwm Tsu Vwj(Charles), Treasurer

Hwm Tsu the Associate Director of Multicultural Affairs at UW-Eau Claire and adjunct instructor, came to Eau Claire with his family in 1978. Hwm Tsu earned a Social Work degree from UW-Eau Claire in 1989, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from UW-Madison (1997). He was employed as a social worker for the Eau Claire County Department of Human Services for nine years before joining the University. Hwm Tsu currently assists incoming and currently enrolled college students to successfully graduate from the university. He works with the University to advocate for equitable and effective learning systems for students of color.
In addition, Hwm Tsu is currently an elected School Board Commissioner for the Eau Claire Area School District, where critical decisions are made that impact over 11,000 students. He also served as Treasurer under former President Thomas NomTub’s VNA administration.
Hwm Tsu, and his wife Dr. Kaying continue to live in Eau Claire, a place they are proud to call home since 1978. They are active community members, taking part in the vitality and dynamics of the Hmong and Western communities. Hwm Tsu and Kaying have three children; two sons and a daughter.
